On August 3rd, 1927, the Sovereign Grand Commander of The Supreme Council of the 33 Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Ritual of Freemasonry for the United States of Brazil, Brother Mário Marinho de Carvalho Behring, through Decree No. 7, founded the Brazilian Grand Lodges, which the pioneers were the Grand Lodge of Amazonas, the Grand Lodge of Pará, the Grand Lodge of Paraíba, the Grand Lodge of Bahia, the Grand Lodge of Rio de Janeiro and the Grand Lodge of São Paulo. Brother Fulton Lee Swain had been installed as Delegate of the Grand Master of Rio de Janeiro with authority under the jurisdiction of Curitiba and Paraná, in a meeting held in December 1940.
On January 2nd, 1941, were founded in Curitiba the Lodges Regeneration, Emancipation and Liberation, subordinated to the Grand Lodge of Rio de Janeiro, receiving the numbers 26, 27 and 28, respectively.
On January 15 th, 1941, the three Lodges sent a board to the Grand Lodge of Rio de Janeiro requesting the dismiss of that Obedience, founding the Grand Lodge of Paraná.
On January 18 th, 1941, the Grand Lodge of Rio de Janeiro opened favorably by the dismissal.
On January 25th, 1941, the Grand Lodge of Paraná was founded and, on this day, at 285 Lourenço Pinto Street, the Lodges Emancipação, Regeneração and Libertação made possible the foundation of the Grand Lodge of Paraná, and the Constitutive Letter was issued by the Grand Lodge of Rio De Janeiro on March 1st, 1941.
The first three Lodges of the new Obedience – the Lodges Emancipação, Regeneração and Libertação, received the numbers 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
Until 1944 the Grand Lodge of Paraná had only these three Lodges, and on June 6 th, 1941,
the Grand Lodge of Paraná founded a new Lodge, named Sol do Oriente Nº 4.
On May 5 th, 1945, in Apucarana, was founded the Lodge Moreira Sampaio Nº 8, the first Lodge in the countryside.
On December 13 th, 1946, The Grand Lodge accepted the Lodge Fraternidade Paranaense, which received the number 5, the Lodge Dario Vellozo, with the number 6, both in Curitiba, and in Cornélio Procópio the Lodge Cavaleiros de Malta Nº 7, all from another Obedience existing at that time.
In 1950 the Grand Lodge moved its administration office to 350 Portugal Street, next to the Temple of the Lodge Sol do Oriente nº4, remaining until 1962, when it moved to João Gualberto Avenue.
In 1963 the Grand Lodge acquired a new office room on Visconde do Rio Branco Street, remaining until end of May 1995, when it moved to 4173 Brigadeiro Franco Street, where the administrative headquarters was installed, built on the land acquired in the Grand Master Antonio Serur Administration, remaining until 2012.
In 2008, during the Grand Master João Carlos Silveira Administration, the three plots of land for the construction of the Noble Temple were acquired (surface of 5,589.89 m²). From 2012 until July 2015, it has been located in a provisional headquarters, in front of the acquired land, when it then moved to ‘The Casarão Parolin’, inaugurated on June 13 th, 2015, after its restoration.
Finally, as a result of the efforts of various administrations and all the affiliated Brothers, during the administration of Past Grand Master Valdemar Kretschmer, a grand and magnificent Masonic Temple emerges, consecrated on December 13 th, 2019. Located at Travessa Livorno nº 129, in Curitiba, the temple is reason of pride for all Masons in the State of Paraná.
Bachelor of Laws and Specialist in Civil Procedural Law, he also studied Philosophy, having joined the Public Ministry of the State of Paraná in June 1990, after being approved in a public exam for evidence and titles for the office of Prosecutor. He reached the peak of his career in 2012, when he was promoted by the criterion of merit to the position of Attorney of Justice, currently exercising his functions with the Second Civil Group, in Curitiba.
Initiated in 1997 at Rocha Pombo Lodge nº 78, where he remains affiliated to this day as an active and regular member.
After having been installed in the position of Master of Lodge between 2004 and 2006, he was the Grand Master’s Delegate, Grand Secretary of Foreign Relations, elected Minister of the Masonic Superior Court by the Legislative Assembly (the most voted) and Grand Senior Warden.
General Inspector of the Order (Degree 33° of the REAA), he was President of all Masonic
Bodies (Lodge of Perfection Gal. Clodomiro Nogueira; Chapter of Rose Croix Phoenix, Council of Kadosh Dr. Álvaro de Figueiredo II and Consistory Moreira Sampaio II).
Before the First Liturgical Inspectorate of Paraná (REAA), he held the positions of Special Advisor to the Sovereign Grand Liturgical Inspector and Past Grand Master Adolfo Bley, and Member of the Natálio Loureva Study Center.
Member of the Chapter of Royal Arch Liberdade n°1 and First Grand Principal of the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch of Grand Lodge of Paraná, Brother Marco Antônio is married to Maria Helena and has a couple of children, Mateus and Beatriz.
